The Department of Nuclear Medicine is a state-of-the-art fully-equipped facility to provide comprehensive range of clinical services in radioisotope imaging and therapy. We endeavour to deliver advanced solutions to various diseases and fundamental insights into the complex workings of the human body.

The Department has highly qualified and experienced team of clinicians who have broad array of in-depth analysis in any anomaly of lungs, brain, stomach, liver, kidneys, bone, heart, thyroid glands, salivary glands, adrenal glands as well as sites of occult infection. A T-2100 Treadmill has also been installed to carry out the cardiac stress studie

We have the ultra-modern technology to detect physiological changes that often occur prior to internal changes leading to early diagnosis of disease. Few of our cutting-edge technological highlights are:

PET CT

PET CT is a new imaging tool that combines two scan techniques in one exam – a PET scan and a CT scan, mainly used for diagnosis, staging of malignant disease and metastases. The scan can also be used to locate an area for biopsy or to evaluate the effectiveness of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy. In addition, this scan is often used for radiation therapy treatment planning with or without PET scan. Other than cancer, this technology has an important role in assessment of heart diseases mainly the cornonaries which supply blood to the heart.

The revolutionary FlowMotion technology, Biograph mCT Flow is the India’s first PET CT system to eliminate the demand for stop-and-go imaging. With Biograph mCT Flow and FlowMotion, now the planning and scanning is based on a single continuous motion of the patient table. Biograph mCT Flow paves the way for extraordinary progress in diagnosing and treating the most challenging diseases by reducing CT radiation dose as the scan range can be selected precisely. By continuously moving the patient through the detection system, FlowMotion technology eliminates overlapping & noise across the entire scan range.

SPECT CT

Our 6 slice SPECT CT for diagnostic quality imaging integrates two technologies to view the body: Computed Tomography (CT) and Radio-Active Material (tracer). The TruePoint SPECT CT technology also reduces exam time by utilising a range of CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) radiation reduction solutions to keep exposure of patients, physicians and technologists to a minimum.

This shows how well the blood flows into the heart muscle, both at rest and during activity after a radiopharmaceutical, such as thallium or sestamibi is injected into the veins, followed by a TMT test as prescribed.

It is done with the help of a radioactive form of the element Iodine that is taken up by the gland and destroys the diseased cells wherein the radioactivity does not spread to the other parts of the body.
